What is Denial of Service (DoS) attack?

DoS is a type of attack that is used to flood a system or network with requests or packets, causing the system or network to become overloaded and crash.







This type of attack can be used to take a system or network offline, or to prevent legitimate users from accessing the system or network. DoS attacks can be launched from a single computer or from a large number of computers working together (a botnet).


There are many different types of DoS attacks, These attacks send a large number of SYN packets to a system or network, overloading it and causing it to crash.

- Ping of death

- Teardrop attacks

- Smurf attacks

- Land attacks

- Fraggle attacks

- Christmas attacks

- Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) attacks

- DHCP attack

- DNS attacks

- HTTP floods

- SSL attacks

- UDP floods

- ICMP floods
